Here for the In-Between,
Honest, & Candid Moments.

Hey friend, I'm Sarah!

I am an intimate wedding and elopement filmmaker and photographer based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I’m married to my life-long adventure partner, Josue (Sway for short), and we have a 4-year-old golden doodle, Murphy, who is our whole world.

When I’m not creating art, I can be found renovating our 1970’s split level home with my husband (follow along at @swayandsarahbuild), tending to my enormous plant collection, catching up on the latest episode of A Million Little Things, serving on my church worship team, or hanging at the dog park.

I’m passionate about documenting the ‘in-between’ moments of life. I thrive on intimate, emotional moments and I feel it’s my purpose in life to preserve people’s stories through my art.

I'm A Nostalgic,
Old Soul At Heart

I highly value old photo albums and home movies. I’m always amazed by the ability to relive moments of life. I still remember the first time, as an adult, that I went through and watched our old home movies from my childhood. I get emotional every time I rewatch them.

Being able to relive those mundane moments with my family and hearing my grandparents’ voices one more time is irreplaceable. It is such a gift to be able to relive and reflect on the moments that shaped me into who I am today.

My hope is that I can gift my couples these kinds of priceless moments for them to come back to 20, 30, or 50 years from now.

Core Values

01.

Authenticity

I believe stories are best told by capturing raw, candid moments over any sort of staged scenario. I won’t make your wedding day feel like something that it’s notyou have my permission to simply be yourselves and ride the emotional waves of the day. Don’t be afraid to shed a few tears in the process!

02.

Intentionality

There’s a “why” behind nearly every decision I make in my business and throughout the editing process. I will never deliver a cookie-cutter gallery or product. I strive to tailor each and every piece of art I create to reflect the personality of the couple so their unique story can live on for generations to come.

03.

Commitment

Marriage isn’t about having the perfect relationship—it’s a lifelong commitment, continuing to love and serve your partner well in both the good and bad times. My hope is that your wedding film and photos will be an anchor you can use to recenter your marriage, reminding you of the joy and passion of your love.

My "Why"

We don’t know how long we have with our loved ones. Imagine 30-40 years from now, being able to relive the sweet, in-between moments of your wedding day – like Grandma wiping her tears during the ceremony, or the emotional words your parents shared with you. There’s nothing in the world that can replace those kinds of moments.

My hope is to bless my couples with that same gift to be able to pass down to their kids, grandkids, and great grandkids someday. That’s my heart behind everything I do.

“Mac cried. He doesn’t cry. The part with his mom and grandpa’s prayer were sooooo perfect!”
- Rachel
“This is one of the best wedding films I have seen in a long, long time. The story telling is so heartfelt and perfectly executed. My goodness. Bravo. My videographer heart is full."
- Ashley McComb
"I don’t know any of these people and I’m CRYINGG 😭 I’m a mess over here, this is absolutely perfect!"
"FULL ON CHILLS!! You documented their wedding in the most beautiful way!!!"
"YOU ARE SO TALENTED!!!! Literally every time you post a video it makes me cry."

The Story Behind
Wildwood

There’s a reason behind nearly everything I do. The dictionary definition of wildwood is, “an untouched forest that has been allowed to grow naturally.” When searching for a name for my business, I immediately fell in love with this concept of something so raw and untouched. Life is made up of so many imperfect but beautiful moments, and I wanted the name of my business to reflect that.

So on windy days, you may be frustrated that your hair is blowing everywhere, but you’ll probably see me freaking out in excitement and embracing it. You won’t find me correcting you or posing you, but embracing who you are and creating something beautiful from that.

My Mission

There is so much power in being able to see and hear your person recite their sacred vows to you again years later. I hope to give my couples the kinds of nostalgic and priceless moments they can come back to 40 years from now and remember where their story started and why they got married in the first place. If we’re being honest, marriage is hard. But my hope is that your wedding film and gallery will be an anchor to return to in both times of celebration and times of struggle.

I Don't Just Scratch
the surface, I Dive Deep

I’m an Enneagram 6w7, which basically means I deeply value the relationships I build with my couples and don’t have a problem diving into deep, meaningful conversations. I can tell your story better once I get to know the real you! So don’t be afraid to get real, raw, or maybe even shed a few tears in the process. If I only scratched the surface of your relationship, I’d be doing you a disservice. I want to get to the nitty gritty of your relationship so I can craft a piece of art that reflects your unique story.

I’ll be there through all the messy moments, whether that’s handing you a tissue after your first look, capturing the moment you and your mom share after she helps you put on your dress, or sharing stories with your families and laughing together until our bellies hurt. I want to help you remember your day exactly how you felt it the first time around—because the truth is, nobody really knows how much time we have left with those we love. These moments go by in a flash, and for me, capturing them is one of the most beautiful ways to remember them.”

We're The Perfect Fit If

Get To Know Me

I’m happily married to my husband Josue (you can call him Sway for short!) and we have a rambunctious 2-year-old goldendoodle, Murphy, who’s basically our whole world.” You’ll usually find us at the dog park, traveling and exploring, or binge-watching a new show on Netflix.
I’m an Enneagram 6 (The Loyalist) with a 7 wing, which basically means I’m always prepared for the worst-case scenario, but I still love a spontaneous adventure! You can always count on me to keep your photos and video secure!
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design. I worked as a full-time graphic designer for a year before going full-time in my photo/video biz! I like to think it makes me a better filmmaker and photographer with my extensive background in art and design.
I have a real obsession with all things plants - especially cacti. I have a whole room dedicated to my plants and you probably won't find a room in my house without one. If I could live in a greenhouse full of cacti, I would.
Music was my first love. Electric guitar is my main instrument, but I love to pull out my banjo or ukelele from time to time. I love me some Red Hot Chilli Peppers or Tash Sultana.
